4/5 Grand Canal Square

These two iconic buildings form part of a commercial and cultural development located in the heart of Dublin’s Docklands. The buildings were designed by world renowned architect Daniel Libeskind and set new standards in terms of design and building finishes.

As No. 4/5 Grand Canal Square was built for the commercial arena with a high level of usage, the ironmongery package that Mooney Architectural supplied had to meet the highest performance standards that would stand the test of time. Mooney Architectural created the specification that met the most stringent of European performance standards in addition to providing long warranties, including hinges that carry a 25 year warranty.

Like many modern buildings, there was a strong desire for the building to be built as environmentally sustainable as possible. Not only are all Modric stainless steel door fittings made from 62% recycled material, but 95% of the material can be recycled at the end of the products life.

With the nature of the building, security was of paramount importance. The steel door package enabled access from public to private areas and therefore required higher security measures. Mooney Architectural installed high security solenoid redlocks that enable electronic synchronisation with access control.
